Art Exhibit
Finding Beauty
Photography of Ed Huberty
Handmade Objects from Around the Bay
“Finding Beauty” is the title of this year’s art exhibit at the Discovery Centre Art Gallery. The exhibit is a combination of the photography of Ed Huberty and handmade objects from around the Gros Morne area.
According to Barb Daniells, curator of the exhibit:
Beauty is a generous domain—a personal, emotional space where images and objects are free to exert their mysterious energies. When Ed Huberty focuses his camera on freshly caught fish in a white plastic bucket, who can say whether their intense and detailed presence is less beautiful than that of a wild iris? Walter Payne’s handmade dory paddles have a simplicity and integrity of form that reveals their total life, from raw lumber to functional tool. We can feel how they were made and sense what it’s like to use them. It is through this residual energy that beauty really operates, transcending visual appearances and becoming a conduit for our deepest connections to the world around us.”
The exhibit opens on June 22 and will be open to the public daily until October 14.
